Latest News : SCCM 2012 R2 Is Released !!

Guys !! Microsoft has released SCCM 2012 R2 :

Here is a Snapshot of some of the coolest new Features :

There is a new site system role, the certificate registration point. This new site system role requires IIS and works in conjunction with a policy module plugin for the Network Device Enrollment Service server role for Active Directory Domain Services that runs on Windows Server 2012 R2. This solution provides certificate enrollment for devices that Configuration Manager manages.

The following items are new or have changed for migration in System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager:

  • You can merge hierarchies from other organizations that also use System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager into your System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager hierarchy.

  • You can migrate data from your System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager test environment into your System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager production environment.

  • Some UI labels and descriptions are updated to reflect the change in functionality that lets you migrate from one System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager hierarchy to another, and to reflect the functionality of migrating, not upgrading, distribution point between hierarchies.

  • When you use the Reassign Shared Distribution Points Wizard, you have the same options as when you deploy a new distribution point, including options make the distribution point a pull-distribution point and to add it to boundary groups in the destination hierarchy.

  1. Hi Abheekdutta,
I have worked with SCCM for the last 3 years and always keen to bounce ideas around with what can be done with the product. I have just project managed our internal upgrade from 2007, 7 sites condensed into 2, 150 DPs and 10000clients. Once I wrap this up I'm considering R2 for our environment, do you know if there any enhancements to user state migration to run from DPs?

  2. Is R2 released for production or is it still in preview release?

  3. I would recommend that you wait for some more feedback on R2 before you put it into your production
